City Girl Summer Essentials

Summer in the city is HOT. While most people are escaping as fast as possible, I actually enjoy being in NYC in the summer. Exploring by bike, outdoor dining, and rooftop views of the fabulous skyline are just a few of the many reasons to stick around. But of course, it comes with challenges especially now during the pandemic. So having your essentials are absolutely necessary to surviving!

No gyms are open, so you’ve gotta figure out how to exercise out in the sun! It’s hard to get reservations with the limited restaurants that are open, so mastering the picnic scene is important. With less bars open, having options for to-go cocktails is awesome for enjoying a day walking around with your girlfriends. Just because we can’t hit our usual, fabulous night life doesn’t mean fashion stops! Shopping specifically for a fashionable summer in the heat is a learned skill. And finally, if you’re one of the chosen few to have access to outdoor space in your apartment, decorating it for optimal enjoyment makes your summer that much more special.

Outdoor Workout Guru

Whether you’re headed to the park or working out in your bedroom, having bands, a water bottle, and short shorts will help you to survive the heat! Not to mention a fashionable mask that’s made of moisture wicking material for your sweaty, but safe, outdoor activities.

Picnic Queen

If you’re headed out to one of the many parks, you will absolutely need some shade from the sun, a cooler bag to hold your food and wine, a pretty blanket, and a mask to get you safely settled into your spot for the day.

To-Go Cocktail Connoisseur

NYC is wrapping up its time with to-go cocktail windows, but these essentials will keep the fun going. A crossbody bag made specifically to hold a drink, your metal straw to keep your germs to yourself, a cute wrist flask, and of course, a mask chain to help you easily remove your mask for sipping.

Summer Fashionista

Keep cool with a lightweight dress, a satin mask, white earrings before labor day hits, and some comfortable sandals to get your daily walk in.

City Deck Oasis

While I wish I could say I have an outdoor deck, I don’t! But if I did, I would make sure to get a rug to withstand the weather, a small table for cocktails and snacks, a chair I can curl up in with a book, and of course, planters for some greenery!

Don’t let this summer heat get you down! With these essentials, I know I’m not. Get out there and enjoy that sunshine!
