Watermelon Sips and Snacks

Today I thought I’d round  up some of my fave snacks & sips using watermelon. Is there a better summer snack? I can’t think of one. It’s sweet, refreshing and EASY - just slice & serve.

Do you know how to choose the best watermelon? There are tons of tips out there but I always remember these two. First - regardless of size, it should feel heavy. Pick up a few that are similarly sized and you want the heaviest one. Second - you’ll probably reach for the most vibrant green because it just feels right BUT...you gotta check for the field spot, aka the area where it rested on the ground while growing. Once the field spot is a creamy yellowish shade - it’s ripe and ready for ya!

Watermelon Pina Colada

This spin on a traditional pina colada is super refreshing, and I just love the pinkish hue. Best part? It’s made with only three ingredients.

Aunti Debi’s Watermelon Pops with Yogurt, Feta and Pistachios

One of my favorite ways to serve watermelon to the kids (adults too) is by slicing up wedges and adding a popsicle stick. It instantly elevates your snack tray & makes for a slightly less messy consumption. Auntie Debi took things to the next level by drizzling the wedges with yogurt and topping with feta and pistachios. YUM.

Watermelon Gin Fizz

This cocktail was born one summer day out of a common conundrum... having tons of extra watermelon. If you’re not into gin, you can easily swap it out for vodka or rum.

Montauk Watermelon Ale

Throwing it back in this post to a picnic on the beach. The day was full of sunshine, great company, delicious caprese sandwiches and...the perfect thing to wash it all down. Highly recommend stocking some Montauk Watermelon Ale in your summer cooler!
