Ready, Set, Weekend with Simply Beautiful Eating
Sometimes, the best-laid plans often go awry. No matter how carefully a project is planned, something may change. Case and point here. I know that this story is going to be a long one, but the ending is quite good so you may want read on.
It all began a few months ago when I fell upon a photo of a vintage rug on Instagram. I quickly clicked over to the site that was selling these fabulous statement pieces and was totally smitten.
I had to have ONE. I just HAD TO.
I contacted Emma Pineo, the owner of Eski Kilimshop and asked if she would like to partner with me on a future makeover project in my home. She was super sweet and agreed to be part of this adventure. My colour palette for the room makeover was soft pink, blush, peach, hues of blue and cream. Basically, I said “I’m looking for THE PERRFECT RUG”.
At the time, there were no rugs available in her shop that were close to my colour “mood board”. I was told to be patient as new merchandise is always arriving and she promised to look out for one that fit into my decor plan.
Did I mention what room I was updating?
My SBE office. That was the plan.
I wanted to create a space that would be both feminine and workable with a blend of vintage and boho vibes. About one month after I spoke to Emma, she had come through for me. She found “the Perfect Rug”.
Here’s where “the best laid plan” took a turn.
My contractor was all set to go and then there was a long delay due to unforeseen circumstances on his part. So instead of going ahead with this project I decided to take that fab rug on the road and incorporate it into my son and daughter-in-law’s townhome. Remember how amazing their kitchen area turned out? Well, guess what? The only thing that was missing was a statement vintage rug for under their table.
When I brought it over, my daughter-in-law immediately FELL IN LOVE. It was a perfect match for their decor. A little mix of MOD and VINTAGE is very much the theme throughout the whole home and this rug just gave their space a beautiful warm feel.
When I came over to shoot this for the blog, I set the tablescape with for a PREASTER(pre-easter) brunch. It’s never too early for some spring inspo, right?
It was so pretty I think I took wayyyyyy too many photos of the scene but I couldn’t help myself. This was the dreamscape I was going for and I’m so happy that this rug has found a special place to be showcased.
And what about my “new office”? It’s just going to have to wait. In the meantime, if you are a vintage rug lover, I have a the best news for you.
