Lights, Gifts, and Latkes
Although I do not celebrate Hanukkah personally, Seri has shared her holiday traditions with us for years. We’ve lit candles with her, made latkes with her, and of course we do Hanukkah gifts!
Since Maggie and I celebrate Christmas, we’ve combined the two holidays for our gift exchange and renamed it “Christmakkah”! Which I love. We exchange gifts in front of our big pink tree, but also make latkes!!! Seri has the best recipe, which I try to make at least 1 time during the holiday season for my husband or friends. Up until this year I have been grating the potatoes by hand but this year I swear I’m getting a food processor. Because it takes me about an hour to do what the machine can do in about 5-10 minutes!
Seri typically sets up a little latke bar for us on her kitchen island with a few of her favorite toppings: sour cream, smoked salmon, chopped scallions, and applesauce. There are a million different combinations you can make, and believe me - I try them all! This year she paired her latkes with this gorgeous Star of David plate from the store. We have so many fun Hanukkah inspired tableware, you can really mix and match for the perfect tablesetting or cocktail set up!
Hanukkah this year starts on Christmas! So we will sadly not be able to light candles together, but that doesn’t mean we can’t exchange gifts! So below I’m listing eight gift ideas from the shop, that would be prefect to gift this Hanukkah!
However you choose to celebrate, just make sure you have good food & good company by your side. Wishing you lots of love & light this holiday season!
