Kathleen's DIY Body Scrub

IMG_7527.jpg

This past holiday season the girls at LMP were #blessed to receive homemade body scrubs made by our very own Kathleen Cameron, a.k.a. Non-Eq Becky. Because Kathleen babysits Seri's children every day, she has become an honorary member of the LMP squad. She helps us with photo shoots that involve the boys and she provides us with constant entertainment across her (hilarious) social media accounts.

This girl is not only talented as a comedian, but apparently she knows how to make AMAZING rosemary peppermint body scrub. So of course, we asked her to come in and show us exactly how she made it.

Supplies:

1 cup sugar

1 cup salt

drops of essential oils of your choice

1/2 cup coconut oil

1/2 cup jojoba oil

glass jar

chopped rosemary for garnish scent

She even gave us a detailed explanation of what each ingredient provides. The coconut oil is a wonderful moisturizer. The sugar and salt are exfoliators, especially useful in winter to slough away dead skin cells. The Jojoba oil is a moisturizer that helps to remove sticky buildup and excess oils from the skin. Rosemary essential oil is great for relieving muscle aches, where the peppermint essential oil relieves headaches, boosts energy, and provides a cool calming effect. Kathleen loves the combination of rosemary and peppermint, but she suggests you use whatever essential oil you like best, including lavender (to reduce street and improve sleep), chamomile (natural allergy reliever), or grapefruit (general antimicrobials with a refreshing scent).

Steps:

Step 1: Combine coconut and jojoba oils in a measuring cup

Step 2: Add the mixed oil, salt, and sugar into a large mixing bowl.

Step 3: Add drops of your essential oils until you have reached the strength of scent you desire.

Step 4: Mix all ingredients together.

Step 5: Transfer the scrub to a jar.

Major thanks again to our wonderful Kathleen! We so appreciate the amazing gifts, and can't wait for you to come up with your next beauty product DIY!

xoxo
